Who we are
This website (hilosemantics.com) is operated by HILO Semantics B.V. ("HILO", "we", "us"), the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy-related question or request, contact us at [email protected].
What data we collect
We collect data in two ways:
- Contact form: if you submit our contact or newsletter form, we collect the email address and any message content you provide, in order to respond to you.
- Site analytics: if you accept our cookie banner, Google Analytics (GA4) collects anonymized traffic data (pages visited, referring site, approximate location, device and browser type). This does not include personal identifiers, form contents, or data usable for advertising, and is not collected until you accept.
Legal basis for processing
We process contact-form submissions on the basis of your consent and to respond to your inquiry (Art. 6(1)(a)/(b) GDPR). We process analytics data only on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given via the cookie banner.
Who we share data with
Analytics data is processed by Google LLC (USA) via Google Analytics. Because this involves a transfer of data outside the EU/EEA, it is governed by Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell or share your data with any other third party, and we do not use your data for advertising.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months and then automatically deleted. Contact-form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your inquiry.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time. For analytics, use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page; for other data, email us directly
- Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or your local supervisory authority
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies needed for the analytics you consent to (see our cookie banner for details). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies from third parties.

We may update this policy as our practices evolve. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
